Advising Teams for Computing Science and Mathematics
Under the University's current Advising Scheme, all undergraduate and postgraduate students, both full-time and part-time, have access to members of staff with formal responsibility for offering advice and guidance on academic matters and for providing information on support services organised within the University community. You will find contact details for the Computing Science and Mathematics Advising teams below.
Many degree programmes are very flexible and this means that the number of possible programmes is very large. Advisers can help you to plan your programme of study, can advise how the degree regulations apply to you, and can advise whether a particular choice of modules will or will not lead to a degree.
An Adviser can act as your first point of contact if you experience problems, be they academic or personal. You can obtain advice and guidance on items such as:
- the main requirements and available options for your chosen degree programme
- the selection of appropriate modules within the chosen programme
- withdrawal from a module (following discussions with the relevant Division)
- options following failure in any module
- the preparation of a case for submission to University authorities or committees (e.g. appeals or leave of absence)
- how to access the services of University officers, or health and welfare services, in respect of non-academic or personal problems
