Personal
I have recently completed my PhD in applied mathematics, under the supervision of Dr. Rachel Norman (Institute of Computing Science and Maths, University of Stirling) and Dr. Lucy Gilbert (The James Hutton Institute). Funding was via a CASE studentship from the Natural Environment Research Council ( NERC) with the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute (now the James Hutton Institute) as the CASE partner.
Research
I have been developing SIR type models of a tick borne disease that affects red grouse in the Scottish Highlands. My work has extended previously published models to consider an alternative route of infection and the seasonality of ticks and red grouse. I also developed models of potential management strategies that may help control ticks and virus.
