First Prize for SUCC team at StacsHack

The Stirling University Computer Club enjoyed another resounding success at StacsHack - the St Andrews Hackathon, on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of February 2015. Seven members of the club attended and a team won a first prize, which included a trip to the London office of the Palantir company, along with some swag. Using real time data from Twitter, and data gleaned through Bloomberg's API, the team created an application, the Mood Tracker, that was able to gauge the mood of several European countries, and predict how that particular emotion would change over time.

Further information about the club - a student society and now also a chapter of the BCS (the Chartered Institute for IT) - can be found at stircomp.co.uk.
