|CSCU9A2 Programming and User Interface Design Spring 2017|
Module organization Spring 2017
Each student will attend three 1 hour lectures each week, at the following times:
The first lecture is on Wednesday 18th January.
It is expected that students will attend all lectures and engage with their studies.
Each student will attend two 1 hour practicals each week, at the following times:
Students should sign up for two practicals on the module's Succeed pages: One Practical A and one Practical B.
Practicals start from Monday in the week beginning 23rd January.
A work sheet will be handed out at each practical. Attendance at practicals will be recorded.
Each work sheet will contain one "checkpoint" at which you should demonstrate your progress to a demonstrator - this may be done up to the end of the second week following the practical at the latest. Achievement of the checkpoints will contribute 20% to your overall grade for the module.
It is expected that students will attend all their practicals. Attendance at practicals will be recorded.
Each student will attend one 1 hour tutorial each week, at one of the following five times:
Students should sign up for one tutorial on the module's Succeed pages.
The first tutorials will be in the week beginning 30th January.
A problem sheet will be handed out in the teaching week prior to each tutorial, and it is expected that students will have attempted the problems before coming to each tutorial.
It is expected that students will attend all their tutorials. Attendance at tutorials will be recorded.
Attendance at tutorials and practicals will be recorded. If you are unable to attend a class, then please email the module organizer, and submit a self-certification of absence via the Portal if appropriate. The University has a policy of monitoring attendance, and repeated absence will be followed up in order to identify any problems at an early stage and to offer students appropriate support.
If you are unable to attend any of your designated tutorial or practical sessions, then you may attend any other tutorial or practical in that week to make up - for example if you have a medical appointment. Please email the module organizer to let them know.
There will be one Java programming assignment, due on Monday 27th March at 6pm, that contributes 40% to your overall mark for the module.
It is required that you submit an attempt at this assignment, otherwise you will receive No Mark for the module.
