Honours Project Variants

CSC99Z (Project by Part-Time Study)

The project is undertaken over one semester and counts as one module. It may be undertaken in the Autumn or Spring semester according to the student's preference and programme of study. It is expected that a CSC99Z project will be undertaken by part-time study, mainly out of office hours. Meetings of CSC99Z students and supervisors are therefore arranged as mutually convenient.

The regulations for CSC9Z7 projects apply with the following variations:

Prescribed Classes
Students may be excused attendance at prescribed classes with the agreement of their supervisor.
Preliminary Report
This must be submitted by the end of the semester prior to the one in which the project commences.
Interim Report
There is no interim assessment so there is no corresponding report, poster or demonstration.
Final Report
For an Autumn project, a final poster is presented along with the other interim posters. For a Spring project, a final presentation is given along with the other final presentations. The final report and final demonstration are due by the last day of the relevant semester. The final report should be roughly 7,500 words including appendixes (i.e. about 30 pages). The size of reports typically ranges from 6,000 words to 10,000 words. A single, final stage accounts for 100% of the project mark. The project diary and code/data listings must be submitted along with the final report.
