This module introduces the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) using the unifying concept of an intelligent agent. An agent is anything that can be viewed as perceiving its environment through sensors and acting upon that environment through actuators. The aim of AI is to build agents that do a good job of acting in their environments. Ideally, an intelligent agent takes the best possible action in a situation.

Artificial Intelligence is a big field. This half-module defines the field and covers its main unifying concepts. It then concentrates on the topics of problem solving by search and machine learning. The module also discusses advanced AI applications such as natural language processing, computer games, autonomous cars, computer vision and robotics.
