My research concerns machine learning, heuristic optimisation and computer vision. You can see my publications on my research page here.
Scientific Electronics
The USBDux project provides data acquisition devices that run on Linux and connect via the USB port. We design and manufacture them here in the UK and have sold over 500 all over the world. For more details see the USBDux web site.
Computer Vision
The Magic Mirror is an installation that uses computer vision techniques to make you vanish unless you keep moving. It has been shown at the Perth Concert Hall and is now on display at the Camera Obscura in Edinburgh. Freaky!
More seriously, I am also using computer vision techniques to help make the built environment more usable for people with dementia. This involves developing a mobile app that assesses a room and produces advice on improvements that could be made to help people with dementia use the room.
